International Selection

  • Elie Grappe, director
    Elie Grappe studied at the conservatory in Lyon and then at the ECAL, where he created the short films Répétition and Suspendu. In 2021, his first feature Olga won the SACD Prize at “La Semaine de la Critique” in Cannes. This film was Switzerland’s submission to the Oscars in 2022 and received the Swiss Film Award.
  • Matthias Joulaud, director
    After studying photography and drawing at the Beaux Arts de Paris, Matthias Joulaud went on to pursue film by entering the filmmaking track of the ECAL/HEAD master’s program. He regularly navigate between the practice of documentary, fiction, and clips. In 2019, he founded the La Maison Momo association in partnership with his co-filmmaker and friend Lucien Roux. In 2022, they won the French Critics’ Discovery Prize at the Poitiers Film Festival for their film Ramboy.
  • Katia Khazak, producer
    Katia Khazak studied film at the Sorbonne Nouvelle – Paris III. In 2014, she joined the production company Aurora Films and produced in particular, with Charlotte Vincent, the films Retour à Séoul by Davy Chou (Un Certain Regard – Cannes 2022), Dirty Difficult Dangerous by Wissam Charaf [p. 23] (Giornate Degli Autori – Venice International Film Festival 2022), and La Bête dans la jungle by Patrick Chiha (Panorama – Berlin 2023).
  • Khadija Kouyaté, actress, writer and director
    Actress, author and stage director, Khadija Kouyaté joins the CNSAD after studying at Paris 3 University. She creates the Marée rouge Company and in 2021 stages her first play De ultĭo ou les yeux de Cedda. She makes her screen acting debut in the film Sages-femmes by Léa Fehner (2023)
  • Catherine Paillé, scriptwriter
    Catherine Paillé studied at the Fémis. She has co-written films such as Gente de bien by Franco Lolli, Les Ogres by Léa Fehner, À l’abordage by Guillaume Brac, Shéhérazade by Jean-Bernard Marlin, and Sauvages, the next film by Claude Barras
