DEC 1 – DEC 8, 2017
40th edition
For 40 years, the Poitiers Film Festival has carried out the mission ascribed by its creator Henri Langlois: to scout out and support the cinema of tomorrow.
40 editions of joyful effervescence to celebrate the work of young filmmakers; 40 editions of unearthing new talents and bringing them to you on the big screen. With these goals in mind, the Poitiers Film Festival continues its quest for singular, moving, and original films, resulting in an International Selection that was more eclectic and top-notch than ever.
For this anniversary edition, the Poitiers Film Festival invited foreign filmmakers that had been discovered in Poitiers over the last years and are now well known in the industry, such as Asif Kapadia.
8 days of events for all film lovers: discussions and exchanges with special guests (Swann Arlaud, Jean-Stéphane Bron, Grégoire Hetzel), Piou-piou screenings for the family, directors, composers, actors, cinema-sandwiches to enjoy a film over lunch, previews, and a Focus showcasing the work of young Colombian filmmakers…
Medias
You can’t help but immediately notice the general quality of the films proposed in Poitiers. Fictional or documentaries, live or animated, big budgets or penniless productions: they all had their place in a competition that was, in fact, relatively homogenous and quite festive.
